Liberty of expression is a topic that has been discussed a lot around the world; however every country violates it in some way. Liberty of Expression is a topic very complex to talk about, it’s true that the people should have the right to express their ideas and opinion anytime but sometimes they can hurt someone else. Sometimes, by expressing ideas, people shut down other people ideas. For example, opposition of a government express that they dislike the government and vice versa but sometimes by expressing their opinion they hurt the government in an ethical way, talking bad about them just because they don’t agree with each other.
In Ecuador there has been some violations toward Liberty of Expression since The President has suppressed any kind of criticism against his campaign by interrupting “The News”. All of that has been stated by Freedom of the Press Committee. They state that it’s a way of intimidate the opposition through silence.
Also, after the “Consulta Popular” the president has said that they won’t cancel the rooster fights or bullfighting but they want to avoid any kind of animal killing but if they forbid killing animals they would get a big negative response since bullfighting revolves around killing the bull at the end and they can’t change it because it’s a culture and a way of life even if some of us don’t agree with it. They just have to find a balance as long as it doesnt affect a big majority and their well being.
The analysis is very lacking... It starts OK, but then it abruptly comes to an end... (15/20)
ResponderEliminarFranky I like your article beacause I also think that liberty of expression is a right very important in society and in the diferent countries. But I also think each person has to think well he or she is going to say for not ofend the others. Respect to the government I think president Correa has to give more respect to the people of this country.
ResponderEliminarfranky. i agree with you because we all have to have freedom of expression. but it is something very abstract, because in some way, it has to be illimited because we all have the right to say what we think, but lets put in the shoes of the president, whos maine job is to stay in power, if people say what they think, somethings wont be true and this will prejudice the president and his goverment
